Nationale Opera & Ballet is een van de grootste Nederlandse culturele organisaties en bevindt zich in het hart van Amsterdam. Over het Koor van De Nationale Opera

De missie van Nationale Opera & Ballet is ‘open up’: het klassieke repertoire steeds opnieuw relevant en betekenisvol maken. Dat doen we door een frisse benadering, ruimte voor vernieuwing en door verbindingen aan te gaan met andere kunstvormen, muziekstijlen en doelgroepen.

Het Koor van De Nationale Opera bestaat uit 55 vaste zangers en groeit bij grote producties uit tot ongeveer 100 stemmen. Het koor staat internationaal bekend om zijn rijke klank, brede repertoire en artistieke flexibiliteit. Daarnaast onderscheiden onze koorleden zich door hun sterke theatrale aanwezigheid en zichtbaar spelplezier op het toneel.

Een parttime aanstelling is bespreekbaar. Dit houdt in dat je niet aan alle producties/activiteiten van het Koor meedoet. Omdat er vaak aan meerdere producties tegelijk wordt gewerkt, betekent dit dat je soms nog wel repetities of voorstellingen hebt voor de productie(s) waar je wel in zit.

Over jou

Wij zoeken bevlogen en professionele zangers met:

Een afgeronde conservatoriumopleiding zang of een opleiding van gelijkwaardig niveau;
Aantoonbare professionele koor- en/of zangervaring;
Bereidheid tot het leren van de Nederlandse taal (minimaal B2);
Een goede beheersing van de Engelse taal (in verband met internationale regisseurs en dirigenten);
Een open, collegiale houding en een sterke teamgeest.

Je bent iemand die het geheel altijd vooropstelt: de voorstelling, de groep en het gezamenlijke artistieke resultaat.

Wat wij bieden

Een aanstelling voor in eerste instantie één jaar, met de intentie tot verlenging;
Werk volgens een vierwekelijks blokrooster;
Het salaris voor deze functie bedraagt, afhankelijk van kennis en ervaring, minimaal €3.412,- en maximaal €4.836,- bruto per maand bij een fulltime dienstverband. Per 1 juli 2026 komt hier 3% loonsverhoging bij;
8% vakantiegeld en een goede pensioenregeling;
Een aantrekkelijke regeling voor onze opera- en balletvoorstellingen;
Een zanglesbudget;
5 weken zomervakantie, 1 week wintervakantie, een week stemrust en 11 ATV-dagen (deels flexibel op te nemen);
Een bijdrage voor een sportschoolabonnement;
Reiskostenvergoeding (ook een fietsvergoeding onder de 8 km);
Fietsplan met belastingvoordeel;
Een uitstekende artiestenfoyer als bedrijfsrestaurant;
De eigen cao NO&B is op deze functie van toepassing (klik hier);
Je werkt op een bijzondere plek in Amsterdam, omringd door creativiteit en vakmanschap.

Auditie & procedure

De auditieprocedure bestaat uit drie rondes:

Voorronde
Hoofdronde

13 april: alle bovengenoemde stemgroepen (2e alt, 1e en 2e tenor, bariton/2e bas) - voorronde
14 april: 2e alt en 2e bas - voorronde en hoofdronde
24 april: bariton - voorronde en hoofdronde
19 mei: 1e en 2e tenor - voorronde en hoofdronde
5 juni (reserve): alle bovengenoemde stemgroepen (2e alt, 1e en 2e tenor, bariton/2e bas) - voorronde en hoofdronde

*Let op: het is mogelijk dat de auditie op twee (aaneengesloten) dagen plaatsvindt.

Mocht je niet beschikbaar zijn op de auditiedatum van jouw stemgroep, laat ons dit dan weten.

Repertoire
We vragen je om vijf contrasterende aria’s voor te bereiden. Tenminste drie stukken moeten opera-aria’s zijn uit verschillende stijlperiodes en in verschillende talen. Daarnaast ontvang je – als je wordt uitgenodigd voor een voorzingronde - een voor te bereiden ensemblestuk. Tijdens de auditie zal worden gevraagd dit stuk met 3 zangers (afkomstig uit het koor) uit te voeren.

Inschrijftermijn en solliciteren

Een motivatiebrief met linkjes naar drie recente geluids- en/of video-opnames met uiteenlopend repertoire.
Een curriculum vitae;

Wij behouden ons het recht voor een eerste selectie te maken op basis van cv en motivatiebrief.
Leden van het extra koor solliciteren door het insturen van cv en motivatiebrief en worden automatisch toegelaten tot de voorronde.

About the Chorus of the Dutch National Opera

The mission of Dutch National Opera & Ballet is to ‘open up’: to make the classical repertoire relevant and meaningful time and again. We do this through a fresh approach, room for innovation and by connecting with other art forms, music styles and target groups.

The Chorus of Dutch National Opera consists of 55 permanent singers and grows to around 100 voices for large productions. The choir is internationally renowned for its rich sound, broad repertoire and artistic flexibility. In addition, our choir members distinguish themselves through their strong theatrical presence and visible enjoyment on stage.

A part-time position is negotiable. This means that you will not participate in all of the chorus's productions/activities. Because we often work on several productions at the same time, this means that you may still have rehearsals or performances for the production(s) in which you are involved.

About you

We are looking for enthusiastic and professional singers with:

A completed conservatory degree in singing or equivalent training;
Demonstrable professional choir and/or singing experience;
Willingness to learn the Dutch language (minimum B2);
A good command of the English language (in connection with international directors and conductors);
An open, collegial attitude and a strong team spirit.

You are someone who always puts the whole first: the performance, the group and the joint artistic result.

What we offer

An appointment for an initial period of one year, with the intention of extension;
Work according to a four-week block schedule;
The salary for this position is, depending on knowledge and experience, a minimum of €3,412 and a maximum of €4,836 gross per month for full-time employment. A 3% salary increase will be added to this as of 1 July 2026;
8% holiday pay and a good pension scheme;
An attractive scheme for our opera and ballet performances;
A singing lesson budget;
Five weeks of summer holiday, one week of winter holiday, one week of vocal rest and 11 ATV days (some of which can be taken flexibly);

The audition procedure consists of three rounds:

5 June (reserve): all of the above voice groups (2nd alto, 1st and 2nd tenor, baritone/2nd bass) - preliminary round and main round

*Please note: the audition may take place on two (consecutive) days.

Repertoire

We ask you to prepare five contrasting arias. At least three pieces must be opera arias from different stylistic periods and in different languages. In addition, if you are invited to an audition round, you will receive an ensemble piece to prepare. During the audition, you will be asked to perform this piece with three singers (from the chorus).
