Over de functie:
Op de Kostuumafdeling ballet werken momenteel twaalf mensen waarvan drie op het atelier. Het atelier maakt, vermaakt en restaureert de kostuums van Het Nationale Ballet, zowel voor de dansers als de figuranten. Klik hier voor een impressie.

Als eerste coupeur ben je, in overleg met het hoofd van de kostuumafdeling ballet, verantwoordelijk voor de vaktechnische uitvoering van maakproces. Naast het zelf vervaardigen en vermaken van kostuums, bereid je het werk op de afdeling voor, maak je een werkverdeling en geef je werkinstructies.

De belangrijkste werkzaamheden zijn:

•         assisteren van het hoofd van de afdeling bij het produceren van nieuwe en bestaande kostuumproducties;
•         tekenen van patronen;
•         technisch aansturen en verder opleiden van een klein team van (freelance) coupeurs
•         stoffen prepareren, kostuums snijden en in elkaar zetten voor kostuumpassen, in overleg met het afdelingshoofd;
•         vervaardigen van proefmodellen/kostuums;
•         plannen en begeleiden van de passen;
•         aanwezig zijn bij kostuumrepetities.

Wie wij zoeken:
Wij zoeken een prettige en vakkundige collega ter versterking van ons team. Je bent een kei in je vak, je houdt ervan om vaktechnisch steeds weer uitgedaagd te worden en je kennis te delen. Je beschikt over ruime ervaring met het maken van theaterkostuums, bij voorkeur herenkostuums en over kennis van kostuumgeschiedenis. Werken met elastische stoffen is voor jou geen probleem. Organiseren van eigen en andermans werk gaat je goed af. Collega’s werken graag met je samen en dansers voelen zich tijdens de passen op hun gemak. Omdat dansers vaak niet Nederlandstalig zijn, is het nodig dat je goed Engels spreekt. Je aanpassen aan wat nodig is en klaar staan voor je collega’s is niet meer dan logisch voor je. Kostuumrepetities zijn met enige regelmaat ook ’s avonds of op zaterdag. Het is voor jou geen probleem om hierbij aanwezig te zijn.

Wat wij bieden:

•         een functie waarin je wordt uitgedaagd als vakman (-vrouw);
•         een salaris dat, afhankelijk van kennis en ervaring, minimaal € 2.514 tot maximaal € 3.467 per maand bedraagt exclusief 8% vakantiegeld;
•         een jaarcontract met de intentie tot verlenging;
•         30 vakantiedagen en 5 ATV dagen;
•         een goede pensioenregeling;
•         de mogelijkheid om opera- en balletvoorstellingen te bezoeken; 
•         opleidings- en trainingsmogelijkheden;  
•         een bijdrage voor een sportschoolabonnement;  
•         een bijdrage in de reiskosten.

About the function:
The Ballet Costume Department currently has twelve people, three of whom work in the workshop. The workshop creates, alters, and restores the costumes for the Dutch National Ballet, both for the dancers and the extras. Click here for an impression.

As the first costume maker, in consultation with the head of the ballet costume department, you are responsible for the technical execution of the production process. In addition to making and altering costumes yourself, you prepare the work in the workshop, make a work distribution, and give work instructions.

The main tasks are:

•         assisting the head of the department in producing new and existing costume productions;
•         drawing patterns;
•         technically directing and further training a small team of (freelance) costume makers;
•         preparing fabrics, cutting costumes, and putting them together for costume fittings, in consultation with the department head;
•         producing prototypes/costumes;
•         planning and supervising the fittings;
•         being present at costume rehearsals;

Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a pleasant and skilled colleague to strengthen our team. You are an expert in your field, you love to be technically challenged and to share your knowledge. You have extensive experience in making theater costumes, preferably men’s costumes, and knowledge of costume history. Working with elastic fabrics is no problem for you. Organizing your own and others’ work comes naturally to you. Colleagues enjoy working with you, and dancers feel comfortable during fittings. Your language skills in English are fine and you’re willing to learn Dutch. Adapting to what is needed and being there for your colleagues is second nature to you. Costume rehearsals are every now and then in the evenings or on Saturdays. It is no problem for you to be present at these times.

What we offer:

•         a salary that, depending on knowledge and experience, ranges from a minimum of €2,514 to a maximum of €3,467 per month, excluding 8% holiday allowance;
•         a one-year contract with the intention of extension;
•         30 vacation days and 5 ATV days;
